| Managing Director Ching-He Huang: Personal Biography |
Managing Director of Fuge Ltd, Ching-He Huang, has always had a passion for food. This passion, coupled with a health conscious attitude and the desire to influence British food culture, culminated with the establishment of her own business 7 years ago.
Ching has long been interested in influencing tastes and challenging perceptions. As a teenager, her creativity and interest in human nature manifested itself as a desire to act. But after three years of living on the breadline and successfully completing a degree in Economics she began to turn her thoughts towards more practical ideas of survival.
Searching for some lunch one day during her finals, she was unimpressed by the range and quality of noodles and sushi supplied by a market leading sandwich shop found on most London street corners.
An idea began to take root. Ching was determined to provide the consumer with tasty, quality food without losing sight of the imagination and flair which she had applied to her love of acting.
Before she even had a product to market, she met with the buyer of Europa foods and told of a delicious dish “liang-mein” (cold noodle salad) eaten in the Far East, as yet undiscovered in the UK.
After some careful and thorough research she set up Fuge Ltd, soon after the completion of her finals in July 1999.
The cold noodle salads proved a resounding success and the food range has since been extended to include traditional leaf salads, side salads and a gourmet pasta salad range.
Ching has also launched a new venture in the form of a non-alcoholic, brewed drink, TZU (pronounced Ta-Zu). The drink incorporates refreshment with health as it utilises the benefits of Sorghum vinegar and fresh fruit juice whilst avoiding any artificial ingredients.
Ching’s sights are set high and as her business grows steadily in size and reputation, improvements to the current range and ideas for new products, continue to flow.
Ching’s vision and dedication to quality look set to help her influence the tastes of a market dominated by mass production and poor quality.
